During the governance meeting on Feb. 11, council again discussed the recommendations of the public ad hoc council compensation review, regarding an increase in their pay.

Council voted during the Feb. 4 meeting to immediately provide the Chamber of Commerce with the remaining $7,500 of the $10,000 annual commitment. Sherry Tytkanych, president of the chamber, was present to request the remaining funds.

The town received a reply from the Mountain View Regional Waste Commission in regards to the complaint about the overload of materials at the recycling depot last month.

Businesses are slowly becoming cents-less in Sundre. Effective the beginning of this month, the penny is no longer circulated in Canada.

A wide load was driven through town on Monday of last week, after the same company brought one through a couple of weeks prior, but had troubles getting through the bridge overlooking the Red Deer River.

Former Sundre High School student Natalie Marsden has recently been awarded two scholarships worth $4,000 while attending the University of Alberta Augustana campus.

Physicians in Sundre and Olds are still waiting to hear from Alberta Health Services on whether their plan to set up a primary care network in the area will be approved by the provincial health authority.

Council voted to hold off paying Sundre's 2013 requisition to the Mountain View Regional Waste Management Commission (MVRWMC) until it receives clarification of the items recently invoiced.

Council approved adoption of a business licence bylaw last month, which immediately came into effect.

Sundre town council approved an operating budget for 2013 during the Jan. 21 meeting. It includes a tax increase of 4.12 per cent. This adds an estimated $75 annual increase to the average homeowner's tax bill, in comparison to 2012.
