Sundre pharmacies are closing their doors and participating in a provincewide pharmacist rally from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday.

Sundre's volunteer fire department has once again saved the day. A couple who live just west of town are commending the fire department for their “speedy response” to eliminate hungry flames attacking their garage a couple of weeks ago.

Hit and run at Home Hardware A hit and run took place in the Home Hardware parking lot in Sundre on March 30. Sundre RCMP constable Val Dennis said in a press release that a red 2011 Dodge pickup truck was hit while parked there.

Sundre mayor Annette Clews is proud to have been awarded a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal. Member of Parliament Blake Richards presented the medal to Clews at the Sundre council meeting on April 2.

The Town of Sundre is proposing a new land use bylaw to replace the existing recreation vehicle direct control (RV-DC) district. Council passed first reading of the new bylaw during the March 18 meeting.

Once again people in the community are coming together. An “open mic night” has been arranged for locals to get out in the community and share talents with each other.

Quick action by Sundre volunteer firefighters is being credited for saving a northeast residence after a barbecue mishap ignited siding on a 2nd Street house. Shortly after 6 p.m.

The recently updated cat control bylaw is now in effect. Council passed second and third readings of the bylaw during the March 18 meeting. After the first reading was passed on Feb.

The Sundre Aquaplex board of directors has been struggling financially over the last year. “We have numerous repairs because the facility is aging and hasn't been well maintained,” said Nicky Vardas, president of the board.

Fishing gear stolen Fishing gear was stolen from a storage shed, after a thief broke into the shed in February. The stolen property included both gas and electric boat trolling motors, said Sundre RCMP Constable Val Dennis.
