Here's one of the concerns raised in the news in Olds 100 years ago in the Olds Gazette: "Again it becomes necessary to call attention to the uselessness of the town pump, which, at the present time, cannot even wheeze.

Residential and commercial water and wastewater (sewage) consumption rates in Olds are rising, starting next month. Water rates are rising by five cents per cubic metre and wastewater rates are increasing by 20 cents a cubic metre.

As the federal government scrambles to settle the flood of Syrian refugees into Canada, a Didsbury and Carstairs sponsorship group has agreed to change the family it welcomes to Mountain View County.

Bowden mayor Robb Stuart is hinting taxpayers in the town could be hit with a tax increase. “We're worried about the budget,” he said during an interview with the Albertan.

About 100-160 litres of gas was also stolen from a bulk storage tank located on Highway 766 in Mountain View County sometime overnight on Jan. 16. Two jerry cans were stolen from a property in Water Valley on that day.

Olds mayor Judy Dahl says so far, she's received some good vibes from the new provincial government. “Honestly, I have had some very good open ears from this new government. And they seem to be visible.

The town has come up with nine recommendations it hopes will solve parking issues in Uptowne Olds. Those recommendations arose from a public meeting on the issue held Nov. 4 last year and revealed during an Uptowne Olds committee meeting.
