Officials are investigating the cause of a fire that caused an estimated $40,000 damage to an Olds home on Sunday, May 8. Olds firefighters were called to a home in the 4700 block of 48 Street at 11:22 p.m.

The third of three platoons of firefighters from Mountain View County is expected to head to Fort McMurray to fight wildfires there today (Tuesday, May 10). They're expected to arrive home this Friday, May 13.

The Fort McMurray wildfires have forced a woman to come to Olds College far sooner than she expected and she's now looking for a place for her family to live in the community.

Chances are you've seen the chalk messages written around town. They were written by students to mark the Canadian Mental Health Association's Mental Health Week in Olds from May 2-8.

A story about the Capital One Boys and Girls Club Race for Kids contained an error. It's $10 a person to register. If teams raise $400 in total they are eligible for race prizes. If they raise $800 they obtain race incentives.

The Olds and District Hospice Society's fifth annual Hike for Hospice was a great success, according to ODHS vice-president Kathy Kemmere. Kemmere says close to 180 people participated, well above the usual 120 participants.

O-NET, Olds' own telecommunications service, plans to expand public Wi-Fi spots to more locations throughout the community this year. The O-NET public Wi-Fi network enables anyone with a wireless-enabled device to connect to the Internet for free.
