This week, all current councillors are away at Federation of Canadian Municipalities in Toronto so Express reporter Erin Fawcett has asked former Councillor Vesna Higham questions regarding what she believes will be the big election issues this year.

Red Deer recently lost one of its most dynamic citizens. Dr. Sadie Lampard, a dedicated community volunteer and philanthropist, who was also the first certified woman optometrist to practice in Alberta, passed away on Aug. 1, 2010.

I have tried to inform Red Deer and area Albertans of the plight of seniors' issues in Alberta. I hold no position or belong to any seniors' organization anywhere. Most of my letters do not get published.
