Lawyers are working on finding a possible "resolution" to a case involving a 24-year-old man charged with first-degree murder who was living in Olds at the time of his arrest before the matter goes to trial.

Because of its efforts to stop water leaks, the Town of Olds was selected to be a featured community in an Alberta Water and Wastewater Operators Association video project on water conservation. The videos were funded by a $2.

A local woman who is active in the community is currently taking treatments for Stage 3 esophageal cancer in Mexico. Tanya Sayer was diagnosed with the disease on Oct. 8, a day after she and her husband celebrated their 18th wedding anniversary.

The Olds Rotary Club will unveil a peace tree on Dec. 10 at 2 p.m. at the Olds Municipal Library. Club member Marjory Lally sparked the idea after she was named director-at-large for the club in 2012 and given the task of promoting peace.

The last significant snowfall in Olds, prior to the blizzard that struck Southern Alberta on December 1 and 2, was on Nov. 16.

The organizers of the annual New Year's Baby Hamper campaign are seeking donated gifts from local businesses that will go to the first baby born at the Olds Hospital and Care Centre in 2014. And this year, a new organization is running the campaign.

Fireworks will be set off after the Santa Claus parade on Nov. 30 as part of the uptown Light Up events. The fireworks will be set off at about 7:45 p.m. at O.R. Hedges Park.

Mountain View Power has given $70,000 worth of profits to the Olds Institute For Community and Regional Development to fund the institute's various community activities.

Town council will be discussing the final draft of the Open Spaces and Trails Master Plan at a future council meeting following a presentation of the final report at the Nov. 19 policies and priorities committee meeting.
