OLDS — All those who have stepped down from local boards and committees have been publicly thanked for their service by mayor Michael Muzychka.

“We just want to reach out – council and I -- to thank these people,” he said during town council’s Oct. 26 organizational meeting.

He paid special tribute to Judy Schlichenmayer, who passed away earlier this year.

In addition to being the owner-operator of Torrock Towing, Schlichenmayer was deeply involved in many local boards, committees and associations, including Olds Rural Crime Watch (ORCW), the Olds & District Chamber of Commerce (ODCC), the Olds & District Community Policing Society, the Kiwanis Club of Olds, Citizens on Patrol, and Victim Services, to name a few.

“It’s with a very, very heavy heart that council wishes to acknowledge Mrs. Judy Schlichenmayer,” Muzychka said.

“She was an incredible volunteer in our town on a number of initiatives, including our chamber of commerce and our COP (Citizens On Patrol) as well as the rural Citizens On Patrol.

“Judy passed away suddenly this year and her absence is going to be greatly missed by all of those who worked alongside of her. She was an incredibly special lady," he said.

“So on behalf of all the staff and citizens of Olds, the council and I, we send our deepest sympathies to the Schlichenmayer family."
