There was no shortage of grinds, flips, ollies, slides and fakies at the Olds Skateboard Park as more than 50 participants took part in BMX and skateboarding competitions as part of the third annual Hay City Slam on July 26 and 27.
There was no shortage of grinds, flips, ollies, slides and fakies at the Olds Skateboard Park as more than 50 participants took part in BMX and skateboarding competitions as part of the third annual Hay City Slam on July 26 and 27.
The BMX competition on July 26 included 24 components taking part in three classes, young guns, for bikers aged 12 and under, amateur, for 13- to 18-year-olds, and open, for 18 years and up, and the competitors were scrutinized by a panel of judges.
The open winners were:
1. Dustin Revoy of Leduc
2. Travis Kozie of Calgary
3. Riley Abramyk of Edmonton
The amateur winners were:
1. Kurtis Donovan of Airdrie
2. Carter Tomczak of Leduc
3. (tied) Austin Van Abs of Leduc
3. (tied) Cameron Reimer of Sundre
4. Joe Whyte of Olds
The young guns winners were:
1. Jace Walker of Sundre
2. Adam Bearchell of Olds
In the skateboarding competition on July27, 28 competitors took part in the same three classes.

2. Isaac Weber of Carstairs
3. Allen Chapman of Penticton, B.C.

The amateur winners were:
1. Caleb Nicholls of Calgary

3. Brandon Lachance of Red Deer
The slam is hosted by 360 Snow and Skate in collaboration with the Town of Olds, Olds Iron Works and Tracks Pub.
