The Grade 8 girls “Blue” volleyball team from Innisfail Jr./Sr. High came in second in the Chinook's Edge Northern Athletics Association playoffs.

“The Blue team went through and they won,” said Jeff Anderson, athletics director at the high school. He said the team won their match in Delburne on Nov. 5 and headed to Bowden to play Nov. 6, where they lost.

“The coaches were so excited at the improvement,” he said.

The “White” team came in third in the playoffs.

Elsewhere on Nov. 6, the Grade 9 City girls team won against Sylvan Lake, qualifying for the Central and West Alberta Junior High Athletics Association Championship on Nov. 17.

“That's all the top teams in Central Alberta,” Anderson said. “It's a great achievement for our girls to make it there.”

The senior girls team had a game cancelled on Nov. 7 and rescheduled for this week.
