OLDS —The Olds Grizzlys have a chance to get back in the win column Friday night when they host the Camrose Kodiaks.

Feb. 16 is the first game of a two-game homestand.

On Saturday, Feb. 17, the Grizzlys will host the Lloydminster Bobcats.

Game time for both clashes is 7 p.m. at the Sportsplex.

On paper at least, those weekend games look to be challenging ones for the Grizzlys.

As of Monday, Feb. 12, the Kodiaks stood 16 points ahead of the Grizzlys with a record of 18-27-0-6 for 42 points in 51 games, good for eighth place in the now 11-team Alberta Junior Hockey League.

Lloydminster stood even higher above the Grizzlys – in fifth place. As of Monday, their record was 28-23-0-0 for 56 points in 51 games.

The Grizzlys are last in the league with a 10-34-3-3 record for 26 points in 50 games.

The Grizzlys’ latest action occurred Saturday, Feb. 10, in Drumheller when the Dragons beat them 7-1.

Braxton Thornton got the lone goal for the Grizzlys at 10:53 of the second period, unassisted. The Grizzlys were already down 2-0 at that point.

Thomas Samborski went the distance in net, stopping 29 of 36 shots he faced. The Grizzlys fired 18 shots at Drumheller goaltender Sean Cootes.

The Grizzlys were blanked on all three of their power play opportunities. The Dragons went two for four with the man advantage.
