CARSTAIRS -- At its regular council meeting on May 27, council approved the area south of the rodeo grounds for the new dog park, on the recommendation of the dog park committee.

CREMONA -- The Village of Cremona council has approved the 2019 municipal tax rates and budget. The move came during the recent regularly scheduled council meeting. The 2019 residential mill rate is 8.25, the residential vacant rate is 12.

The Town of Carstairs held its annual spring cleanup day on May 25 at the town office. Helping unload a door are Deputy Mayor Rick Blair, front, and CAO Carl McDonnell. Despite wet weather, the event was successful, said McDonnell.

DIDSBURY -- The 2019 tax rate bylaw was brought back to council at its regular council meeting on May 28. The bylaw, which was passed at the previous council meeting on May 14, was rescinded and a new one passed.

This group of ladies from TOPS in Didsbury held a garage sale fundraiser on May 25 during the Didsbury community garage sale. The community garage sale featured almost 50 sales throughout the town.

PENHOLD -- Area firefighters returned home last week following seven to 11 days of assisting hundreds of others battling the raging wildfire south of High Level.
