Mindfulness and Meditation Releasing Through the Power Of Music

It has been known for many years that music can affect your mind and emotions in so many different ways. Sad music can make you feel more down and upbeat music and make you feel more motivated.

It all comes down to the vibrations and tempo of the music.

How does it work

Scientific research has shown that music played around 60 beats per minute can cause the brain to synchronize with the beat. This causes alpha brain waves, which are the brain waves that help us feel relaxed. According to researchers at Stanford University, listening to music can have the same effects as some medications (although is never a reason to not take prescribed medication). Researches also note that music is something most people can easily access and use as a fantastic tool to wind down.

What type of music reduces stress?

Native American, Celtic, stringed-instruments, drums, and flutes are fantastic for reducing stress when played loudly. If you're looking for a more modern approach, sounds of rain and thunder can be relaxing when mixed with other music such as jazz and classical. But since song titles don't come with a beats-per-minute label, how can you tell which music is right for you?

Well it's simple, do you like the music? Play it? Does it relax you? Well, there you go! You found your perfect relaxation music. To find music that you like, you can go on almost any streaming service and start searching. But be aware that forcing yourself to listen to relaxation music is very stressful for the mind, so make sure that you like the music that you're listening to, otherwise it's pointless and counteractive. When listening to your chosen music, if your body automatically feels sleepy and relaxed that means it's working.

Give it a try!

Music can be a great tool to help relax your mind and body after a long stressful day. Just make sure you're listening to something that you like and something that's relaxing. Even though you might love EDM trap remixes, you may need to focus on something a little gentler to help yourself wind down. Try some rain and thunder mixed with jazz or some classic Celtic tunes. The possibilities are literally endless. There are thousands of sounds out there waiting to be discovered. Be sure to find the right one that puts you in a nice relaxing mood so can wind it down and get a good night sleep.
