The Sundre RCMP detachment received 79 calls for service from Jan. 16 to Jan.

Once inside the fenced area, the suspects broke into the locked rear compound of the business and proceeded to help themselves to six retread trailer tires with an approximate value of more than $2,000.,

The Sundre RCMP detachment received 79 calls for service from Jan. 16 to Jan. 31, including the following:

The following summaries are matters that the Sundre RCMP detachment is requesting public assistance with as well as raising awareness about.

On or about Tuesday, Jan. 5, Centrica's Burnt Timber Field Compressor Station located southwest of Bergen was damaged by a culprit(s) shooting a firearm at the door of the building. It appears that a small calibre firearm was used. No persons were injured but the potential was there had employees been on shift inside the building.

On Monday, Jan. 11, near dusk, a resident near Bearberry was outside viewing horses on the property when a vehicle drove past. The resident heard what sounded like several gunshots and saw the horses running around. The horses were spooked but none suffered injuries. The vehicle was described as a pickup truck and continued eastbound on Twp. 332.

On Monday, Jan. 18 at approximately 4:30 a.m., security CCTV footage captured a late '80s extended cab Ford dually pickup truck that is light coloured with a dark mismatched box park at the Outwest Car and Truck Wash in the Town of Sundre. Suspects exited the truck and walked over to a semi-tractor power unit that was also parked in the lot. Suspects then siphoned approximately 40 gallons of diesel fuel out of the power unit. The suspects also smashed out one of the side windows on the power unit. The suspects involved in this incident are also believed to have been involved in the following matter. In the early morning of Monday, Jan. 18, a welding truck parked in the Jeftec parking lot that was awaiting mechanical service had its attached toolbox broken into. Culprits stole an assortment of welding tools valued at approximately $2,000.

On the morning of Wednesday, Jan. 27, the owner of a saddle horse discovered that the animal had been shot in the head. The horse was still alive and had walked to the ranch buildings. A veterinarian confirmed that the horse was shot with a small calibre rifle. Police believe the incident occurred along Twp. Rd. 325, between Rge. Rd. 62 and the Coal Camp road west of Sundre. The horse died the following day as a result of the wound it sustained. A dead horse in the same area had also been located by the owner on Friday, Dec. 18. The cause of death was not confirmed but the owner suspects that it might have been shot too.

Members of the Sundre RCMP detachment will be focusing on distracted driving enforcement and education this month. Please remember that effective Jan. 1, the offence for distracted driving includes a penalty of three demerits and a $287 fine.
