SUNDRE – The upcoming public open houses hosted by the municipality to offer the public an opportunity to ask questions and provide input have been slightly rescheduled.

The move came by way of motion on Feb. 26 during a regular meeting of council.

Part of the background included in the meeting’s agenda package stated that due to meeting schedule conflicts, administration had received a request to revise the 2024 council meeting calendar for the spring and fall public open houses.

The spring and fall open houses were originally scheduled to take place on the Thursdays of March 21 and Sept. 12 respectively.

The proposed change was to instead reschedule both open houses a little earlier in the week on the Tuesdays of March 19 and Sept. 10.

Coun. Owen Petersen, who moved the recommended motion to approve the change, asked what times the open houses would be running.

“Typically, we have held them from 1 to 4 (p.m.) on both of those days,” replied Linda Nelson, chief administrative officer.

Without further questions or conversation from council, mayor Richard Warnock said before calling a vote that “Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays seem to be the busiest days of the week, and Mondays and Tuesdays are two lighter days, so it’s easier – maybe for the public as well – to attend these on Tuesdays instead of Thursdays.”

The open houses will be held at the municipal office’s council chambers.

The motion carried unanimously.
