Series of thefts from vehicles reported to police

At least four Sundre residents reported thefts of items from their vehicles in town last week. Sundre RCMP officers believe two youths between the ages of 14 and 17 have been stealing from vehicles at night. Sometime during the night of Aug.

At least four Sundre residents reported thefts of items from their vehicles in town last week.

Sundre RCMP officers believe two youths between the ages of 14 and 17 have been stealing from vehicles at night.

Sometime during the night of Aug. 19, an undisclosed amount of cash was stolen from a vehicle near 2nd Avenue NE.

“A neighbour reported seeing two young people also in her vehicle. When she opened her front door they ran away,” reported Sundre RCMP Const. Val Dennis.

A third resident in the same area reported that some change had been stolen from her vehicle, he added.

“On Aug. 21, a resident near this same area reported that a wallet was stolen from an unlocked vehicle,” he said.

Officers are advising residents to be cautious and lock their vehicles.

“You can protect yourself by removing all valuables from your vehicle and locking it,” he said.

“If you observe anyone committing this crime do not confront them, and report it to the police immediately.”
