RIMBEY ó RCMP have arrested a Red Deer man suspected of using a truck previously stolen from the Sundre area in the attempted theft of another pickup near Rimbey.

Quinn Russell Peterson, 25, has been taken into custody and authorities are no longer seeking the public's assistance to locate him.

Following a police investigation into an attempted theft of a truck on April 3, Rimbey RCMP were seeking help in identifying a male suspect. Public tips and assistance from RCMP members in other detachments led to Peterson being identified and an arrest warrant was subsequently issued.

The truck the suspect was driving at the time of the April 3 incident was identified as having been stolen from Sundre on Thursday, March 30. It is described as a 2012 Ford F250 white crew cab 4x4 truck. This truck is also suspected of being involved in property crimes committed in the Red Deer area, said police.

Peterson, who is in police custody pending a bail hearing, faces one criminal code charge of theft of a motor vehicle. He also faces numerous other criminal charges relating to outstanding warrants over incidents in Didsbury and Innisfail, including dangerous driving, robbery, possession of break-in tools, possession of weapon dangerous to the public peace, and using a stolen credit card.
