SUNDRE – River Valley School’s annual science fair offers participating students an opportunity to explore their inquisitive nature and along the way learn all about the scientific method.

This year, there were 33 projects presented by a total of 52 students who decided to get involved, said Noel West, Grade 3 teacher and the organizer of this year’s science fair, which was held on Monday, Feb. 12 at the school.

“The students did such a great job as a whole and I was impressed with how many original ideas there were in the projects,” West told the Albertan.

“Having three kindergarten entries was great and I was quite impressed with their presentation skills, especially for them being only five years old!” said West, who also helped judge the projects.

Students who placed first, second or received an honourable mention are eligible to move onto the Mountainview Science and Technology Society County Science Fair, which takes place March 1-2 at Olds High School.
