River Valley School Grade 4 student Ryder Dach said he was excited to be selected as this year’s honourary commander during the local fire department’s annual Fire Chief for a Day event. Every year, volunteer firefighters drive with the winning student in a fire truck to tour a couple of local businesses for a fire inspection. Here, fire prevention officer Frank Crouch teaches Dach how to check extinguishers to determine whether they need to be re-certified on Wednesday, Oct. 26. Although a couple of the units at the local business did need to be re-certified, escape routes were well indicated and clear of obstructions, so Dach decided it passed the inspection.,
