As of yesterday, all of Sundre's municipal council seats have been contested, sending voters to the polls on Oct. 16 to choose a mayor and six councillors.

Eleven people filed nomination papers by yesterday's deadline. They all have until noon today to revoke their nomination if they so choose.

Mayoralty incumbent Terry Leslie has signalled his rerun for election and is joined in the race by current councillor Chris Vardas.

For the position of councillor, nine people filed nomination papers including some newcomers, current councillors and a former councillor.

They include incumbent Nolan Blatchford, Todd Dalke, Sean Patrick Davis, incumbent Cheri Funke, incumbent Paul Isaac, Charlene Preston, former councillor Patricia Toone, Richard E. Warnock and Robert Wolfe.

Current councillors Verna McFadden and Myron Thompson did not file nomination papers and will not be running for election.

Returning officer Kathy Taylor said the official list of nominees will be posted at www.sundre.com at 12:05 Sept. 19 after the 12 noon deadline has passed for anyone wanting to revoke their nomination.
