A brazen daylight theft at the Sundre Golf Course was captured on camera but the culprit made a clean getaway before staff noticed thousands of dollars had been stolen.

On Sunday, Aug. 28 between 9:10 and 9:20 a.m., an unidentified male stole approximately $9,000 in cash as well as approximately $4,000 in cheques from the Sundre Golf Course.

The incident was captured on the CCTV security system. Video footage shows an unknown male entering the lower level office portion of the clubhouse near the pro-shop. The male is seen skulking about and trying to avoid the attention of the pro-shop employees, who were just down the hallway. The male then enters two unlocked and separate open offices where he located the money. The thief then slunk away to the parking lot and departed in a Kia minivan.

The male was Caucasian, heavy-set, with receding grey/brown hair that was cut short, and he wore a light blue collared long sleeve shirt with black pants.

He left in a late model — approximately 2012-2014 — black Kia Sedona Minivan with stock hubcaps.

If anyone can assist in identifying the suspect from the surveillance photos, please contact the Sundre RCMP detachment at 403-638-3675 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
