The Town of Sundre has hired Dave Dubauskas as the permanent chief administrative officer (CAO).

His first day on the job was Dec. 9 and he has worked for the town in the past, twice as the interim CAO.

He served in the position from December 2011 to April 2012 and again from July to September 2012.

Council held a special council meeting on Nov. 25, where it decided to hire Dubauskas subject to successful negotiation of a contract. The contract has now been signed.

Doug Wright worked as interim CAO from July 23 until Dubauskas took over. Wright's contract cost the town $63,900.

During the council meeting on Dec. 16, Wanda Watson-Neufeld, the town's director of corporate services, explained that it is more expensive for the town to pay an interim CAO than a permanent CAO.

Before Wright, Dean Pickering worked as the permanent CAO for 10 months. He resigned from the position on Aug. 16 due to medical reasons.
