OLDS — An 18-year-old youth has been charged with making an unsafe u-turn in the wake of a collision that occurred last week.

Olds RCMP Cst. Morley Statchuk says the collision occurred Oct. 13 on Highway 2A between Olds and Didsbury.

Statchuk said there were no injuries on-scene as far as RCMP know.

Diana and Peter Smith came across the aftermath of the crash while travelling from Carstairs to Olds that afternoon.

“One car was totalled with the front end completely smashed in and another car with some damage on the passenger side of the front end,” Diana wrote in an email.

“The lighter damaged SUV was facing the wrong direction in the northbound lane and the most damaged car was perpendicular across on the shoulder, so the damage we saw didn’t make sense. The car was also the highway across from a road entering onto the highway.

“We were quite curious as to what happened as it was a clear, sunny day so there were no road conditions to speak of and the position of the cars seemed so odd.”
