BOWDEN ñ Council is looking at possibly hiring an Olds College instructor to teach town staff how to properly prune and care for trees in the community.

Coun. Shelia Church made that suggestion as councillors studied this year's operating budget during a special meeting May 15.

She asked if at least one town employee could be sent to a course on tree pruning and maintenance.

ìWe're spending a lot of money on trees,î Church said. ìThey need to know how to fertilize them and how to (prune and care for them).î

Coun. Wayne Milaney, who works with the college frequently, said he could put the town in touch with an instructor in the college's arborculture (tree and plant care) department.

ìHe definitely is the tree doctor of Alberta. I'm sure he'd love to do it. He's a good man; a very good man,î Milaney said.
