The town of Olds has issued a public notice saying that water quality is being affected by heavy run-off conditions over the past week. However, it says there are no concerns over public safety and that treatments have been increased to solve the problem.

The town of Olds issued a public notice yesterday afternoon (April 10) advising that water quality is being affected by heavy run-off conditions over the past week.

The town has been advised by the Mountain View Regional Water Services Committee that the raw water quality has been the poorest observed in several years.

"There may be noticeable taste and odour in the water supply and your utility services will probably notice higher than normal chlorine residuals and turbidity (muddy particles in water)," read the release.

The town reported that while the water isn't as clear as normal, there are no concerns over the safety of the water supply, and said water quality treatments have been increased to ensure the best quality given the spring runoff conditions.
