Olds chief operating officer Doug Wagstaff is hopeful the town will be able to undertake some upgrades to Centennial Park if the town receives Canada 150 funding.

Canada 150 grants are funds provided to help celebrate the country's 150th birthday next year.

The town has applied for a matching grant of $104,253 to undertake a couple of projects in Centennial Park.

One is to install solar-powered lights along the pathway in the park to improve lighting there.

Another is to install some spotlights to illuminate the Kiwanis Prairie Village.

Earlier, the town had applied for matching funds to undertake other projects in the community, including pop-up photo booths, a commemorative sculpture, and a permanent stage or ampitheatre in Centennial Park.

However, those applications were unsuccessful.
