Special weather statement issued Monday for Olds, Sundre area

OLDS - Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for the Airdrie - Cochrane - Olds - Sundre area Monday morning.

There is a potential for significant snowfall mid-week, the federal agency says.

Snow is expected to begin Tuesday evening and continue through Wednesday.

"Total amounts between 10 to 25 (centimetres) are possible by Thursday morning, with the highest amounts falling west of Highway 2 over higher terrain. The snow will be heavy and wet, and may be mixed with rain in some areas, so total snowfall amounts will vary widely," the statement, issued at 5:10 a.m. April 29, says.

No statement has been issued for the Red Deer - Ponoka - Innisfail - Stettler area.
