There's still time to apply for Spring Fling proceeds

“We do have some very good quality applications but we certainly encourage folks or organizations in the community that are thinking about project-based funding requests to get them in by (this) Friday,” Spring Fling Organizing Committee co-chair Tracy Gardner says.

Spring Fling is a combination fundraiser and celebration that the end of winter is at hand.

This year's edition takes place Friday, April 8, 7 p.m. at the Cow Palace.

The first edition was held last April at the Cow Palace and attracted more than 400 people,

Patrons paid $75 per ticket to attend. They could then vote for any of four local causes: the Olds Splash Park, Olds Grizzlys, Olds Hospice Society, and renovations for the Olds Regional Exhibition Association.

The one receiving the most votes (Olds hospice) received 50 per cent of the proceeds, with the other three splitting the remaining 50 per cent.

A total of about $30,000 was distributed among the four causes.

Gardner encourages prospective applicants to fill out the application form on the Spring Fling website (oldsspringfling.ca). They can then email that application to organizers or drop it off at the Olds town office, attention Mitch Thompson.
