An Olds resident already facing 10 drug-related charges now faces two more after RCMP checked to see if he was following release conditions imposed while his case goes through the courts.
The Crown initially filed 10 charges against Christopher Long, 49, after Olds RCMP and ALERT, Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods partnered in a drug investigation. A search warrant was conducted on his home on Jan. 21 after a vehicle stop.
He was released by a justice of the peace on $5,000 cash bail.
One of the conditions of that bail is that Long is required to allow police to conduct random searches of himself, his vehicle or his home.
On Feb. 11, RCMP executed a search warrant of Long's home based on those condtions.
“A quantity of cocaine was found within the residence,” an RCMP news release says.
As a result, Long was charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance (cocaine), and one count of failing to comply with conditions of his recognizance.
Long was held in custody pending a court appearance.
These latest charges are in addition to the charges Long originally faced after the Jan. 21 search of his home.
Those charges are:
Trafficking in cocaine.
One count each of possession for the purpose of trafficking in cocaine, meth, heroin, marijuana and methylphenidate prescription pills.
One count each of possession of psilocybin – mushrooms, amphetamine pills, dihydromorphine pills and tetrahydrocannabinol pills.
