Strong showing for legion members in shuffleboard provincials

Gary Bowie of the Royal Canadian Legion in Forest Lawn (Calgary) and Don Heater of Red Deer were among the competitors in the Royal Canadian Legion Command Shuffleboard Provincials, held March 8-9 at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 105 in Olds.

OLDS — Local competitors in the Royal Canadian Legion Command Shuffleboard Provincials finished in third and fourth in the men’s and women’s sides.

The tournament was held March 8 and 9 at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #105 in Olds.

On the men’s side, Tom Bartholow and Reginald Peters with spare Orville Ulry of Olds (District 5) finished in third place.

Gary Bowie and Gary Landgraf of Calgary (District 9) finished first. Ron Ronnesth and Gerry Pellerin of Edson (District 8) placed second.

On the ladies side, Ann Lund and Denise Niegam of Innisfail (District 4) placed third. Linda E. Anderson and Sandra Jahn of Olds (District 5) finished in fourth place.

Lois Kohlsmith and Donna Mowat of Calgary (District 9) finished first. Olive Bisio and Fay Tokash of Red Deer (District 4) placed second.
