The Olds High School (OHS) Interact Club is still looking for donations from businesses for its sixth annual fundraising banquet, which takes place March 10, in the school's commons area.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Supper begins at 6 p.m.

This year, funds are being raised for Malawi Girls On the Move, which helps girls in that country obtain an education.

"We're aiming to finish this project with some construction so we can get a lot more girls going to school," Interact Club co-president Emily Vandermeer says.

"It's a really great way to promote your business and do something good," she adds.

The guest speaker is scheduled to be a teacher from a Malawi school who is currently studying in Lethbridge, according to Interact Club staff advisor Tane Skotheim.

"Basically what we need from people is to donate raffle items and dessert items," Vandermeer says.

She says businesses that donate earliest have the best chance of having their names included on a program/menu for the evening. Skotheim says posters will also be displayed, featuring the names of donors.

She says while organizers would prefer to obtain donations and sell tickets well ahead of time, donations can be dropped off and tickets bought on the day of the banquet if necessary.

Desserts provided for a dessert raffle at the end of the evening will naturally be donated the day of the event, she adds.

In addition to the guest speaker and raffles, during the evening, 14 students will provide live musical entertainment.

Tickets for the event are available at the OHS office, from Interact Club students or from Deby Crawford of the Rotary Club.

"We have lots of great donations rolling in from businesses so we're very appreciative of that," Skotheim says. "The ticket sales are just starting now, so we're really looking forward to a good evening."
