OLDS — RCMP are continuing to investigate a single-vehicle collision that occurred on Highway 27 east of the Highway 2 overpass Wednesday afternoon (Dec. 8).

A Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by a lone 74-year-old woman from the Olds area, went off the road, through a fence and down an embankment. Emergency crews, including RCMP and firefighters responded.

Late Wednesday afternoon, in an email, Olds RCMP Cst. Morley Statchuk said the cause of the collision was not yet known.

As of that time, the driver’s injuries were unknown. A STARS air ambulance was dispatched to the scene.

Police were asked if any charges are contemplated.

“The incident is still under investigation,” Statchuk wrote.
