Snow clearing may interrupt Olds water leak battle

OLDS — Unfortunately, town crews will be digging up and working on various parts of 61st Avenue for some time to come, chief administrative officer Brent Williams says.

During town council’s Feb. 26 meeting, Williams said town crews have been in that area for several weeks trying to deal with water leaks.

He said they’re utilizing new leak detection technology as they hunt for the source of the problem.

Williams warned that work may be interrupted in the early part of this week as crews work on snow clearing in town instead. So it may be later in the week before they get back to working on 61st Avenue water leaks.

“I know it doesn’t sound that great or look that great having the same street dug up in various distances from each other, but it is in fact progress,” Williams said.

He said it’s hoped crews will identify smaller problems that can be rectified and thus “have a positive impact on the town.”
