OLDS - A scheduled Shaw phone, internet and TV outage on Thursday for Red Deer and surrounding areas was still impacting customers past the anticipated 6 a.m. service restoration.

"Some customers may experience an interruption of the affected Shaw services between midnight and 6:00 am MT (April 25). This interruption is expected to last approximately six (6) hours," a Shaw outage notice said.

But hours after the estimated restoration time, the Town of Olds reported only cash or cheques could be accepted at all facilities, including the town's administration office and Aquatic Centre, saying debit machines were still down.

By 9:55 a.m. debit machines were up and working at the town office and Aquatic Centre, but issues remained.

"We are still awaiting word on the outgoing long-distance phone call issue," a post on the town's social media said. "According to Shaw, no one with a 403-area code can make long-distance calls at this time."
