A man accused of having between $300,000 and $500,000 in cash in his vehicle when he was pulled over by police on Highway 2 outside Olds on April 2 had his preliminary hearing set for May 1, 2014.

Tinh Binh Dinh, who is charged with possessing the proceeds of crime, had the new date set during a hearing on Sept. 23.

The hearing on May 1 will determine whether there is enough evidence to proceed to trial.

On Oct. 21, Andrew Fong will be confirmed as defence counsel of record for Dinh. Brian Forrestell, appearing as agent for Fong, made the request during the Sept. 23 proceeding.

Police seized the money after searching Dinh's vehicle with the help of a police dog.
