Possible second crack at Canada 150 grant

Olds council's policies and priorities committee is looking at trying for a second time to get a Western Economic Diversification Canada infrastructure grant.

Olds council's policies and priorities committee is looking at trying for a second time to get a Western Economic Diversification Canada infrastructure grant.

Last winter, the town's application for a $500,000 grant under the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP 150) was denied. The money would have contributed to the revitalization of Centennial Park, a project originally costed at $1 million to be completed over two phases.

"Previously, when we weren't approved in the first round, they did indicate there would be the possibility of another bid, depending on how much money was allocated out," said chief operating officer Doug Wagstaff.

Applications to the federal program are due June 22, a tight deadline, Wagstaff said.

"We're just exploring which projects that we had submitted previously we feel would be strong submissions for a second round."
