Police already busy with 2014 break-in activity

After coming off a year where the number of break-and-enter and property crimes in the Olds area soared, local police are already busy looking into seven regional break-ins that have happened since the beginning of 2014.

After coming off a year where the number of break-and-enter and property crimes in the Olds area soared, local police are already busy looking into seven regional break-ins that have happened since the beginning of 2014.Olds RCMP have recorded four break-and-enters in Olds including two incidents at an apartment complex on 53 Avenue where two suites were entered and some “minor items” were taken from one unit, police reported.The other two incidents include a break-in to a garage on 43 Street where $1,000 worth of tools were stolen and a break-in to a garage on 52 Street where nothing was taken.Police also report one break-in in Torrington where a small amount of cash was taken, a break-in in Bowden where nothing was taken and a rural area break-in where nothing was taken.No one has been arrested in connection to any of these break-ins.Police were not able to provide exact dates for the break-ins but said they took place between Jan. 3 and Feb. 26.Last year, Olds RCMP recorded 86 break-in incidents in their coverage area, a 62.3 per cent increase over [email protected]
