Flags began flying at half-mast at the Olds Town Hall Thursday morning in the wake of Wednesday's tragedy in Ottawa.

In that incident, a reservist guarding the War Memorial was killed by a gunman who was later killed as he fired shots in the Parliament buildings.

“We will be lowering our flags until further notice,” Town of Olds Chief Administrative Officer Norm McInnis says.

He says the Town generally follows the federal and/or provincial government's lead on lowering flags.

The exception would be if an important local person passed away or something, in which case the Town would make the decision.
