OLDS — Clint’s Kitchen, the newly started soup kitchen in Olds, received some extra help from a local oil company late last month.

On Feb. 29, Whitecap Resources Inc. donated $2,500 to the initiative.

A team of volunteers from the company also signed up to help prepare meals and serve them in April.

Clint’s Kitchen is the brainchild of local resident Clint Jackson, assisted by Olav Traa, pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

Since Feb. 14, it has been open every Wednesday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, located at 5022 52nd Street in Olds.

“Clint’s Kitchen is truly a grassroots initiative, and we remain so incredibly grateful for all the community support. We are seeing a general attendance increase of about 10 to15 per cent per week,” Traa wrote in an email.
