OLDS — The Town of Olds' chief administrative officer has given a shoutout to residents who have alerted staff to infrastructure problems via the Report A Problem page on the town’s website.

Brent Williams thanked residents for that help during council’s Feb. 12 meeting.

Williams said as a result of the cold snap in January and unusually warm weather in February, lots of problems like water line breaks and catch basin issues occurred.

Several citizens reported those situations on the Report A Problem page, thereby alerting staff to those problems and where they had occurred.

“We’ve received four or five reports that really helped us get on the ball with holes in the middle of the road that shouldn’t have been there for example,” Williams said.

“That helped identify things before they became catastrophic.”

Williams said although town staff are always on the lookout for those issues, they can’t be everywhere all the time.

Thus, “it’s always helpful to have those eyes on the ground amongst our 111 kilometres of roads.”
