OLDS — Aspiring adolescent rodeo contenders, including a couple of athletes from the region, recently tested their mettle in town during the High School Rodeo Finals.

The competition was held June 2-5 at the Olds Regional Exhibition’s rodeo grounds.

Two regional residents qualified for the 2022 National Rodeo Finals, which will be held in Wyoming: Madison Levangie, of Red Deer County, and Briley Scott, of Sundre.

The competition was very tough, said Alberta High School Rodeo Association chair Patricia McKean.

The association also celebrated its 50th anniversary that weekend.

McKean said the rain on Sunday was “not ideal, but (it) all worked.”
