The town of Olds has chosen a new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) to replace Norm McInnis, who resigned to take a job in B.C. last fall.

However, the town is not yet revealing that person's name or any other details. All officials will say for now is that the new CAO will start work officially on May 8.

Mayor Judy Dahl says the town will release more information about its new CAO in late March.

Meanwhile, the town has hired a second interim CAO to run the administrative side of the town, replacing Rick McDonald, whose contract ran out in late January, Dahl says.

The new interim CAO is Pat Vincent, who retired earlier from a career in public service. During that career, Vincent has served as a town manager in various communities several times.

He's currently living in Beaumont, Alta. He officially started work for Olds yesterday (Monday, Feb. 13).

Vincent will work in town three days a week and work from Beaumont two days a week. He says he will "telecommute and be available by text or email" when not in town.

Vincent says he doesn't forsee any major projects during his time as interim CAO but that will depend on what council says.

"That's part of the conversation I'm going to have with council right away, is to find out what their priorities are and what their expectations (are)," he says.

"Certainly part of it is to maintain the administration; keep it ongoing and find out more about the community and what council's wishes are - if there are some major projects that they need me to look after," he adds.
