Singer-songwriter Michael Bernard Fitzgerald will be paying Tracks Pub a visit the night of Sept. 9.
The Calgary artist is familiar with the town and has a long history with the establishment.
"Our first show through was shortly after they were open. It's been cool to come back and see all the faces in Olds," Fitzgerald said.
The stop in Olds is part of Fitzgerald's national tour this fall, which includes dates in British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Winnipeg, Montreal and Ontario. He concludes with three shows at the BreakOut West Music Festival in Regina. Earlier this year, he also played at the Calgary Folk Festival and Rifflandia.
In 2016, Fitzgerald was also named Best of Calgary's Best Male Vocalist.
As well, his single I Wanna Make It With You reached the Canada-Alternative Chart.
"It's just one of those songs that just came together real quick. We recorded it in one night and just added instruments to it as we made the rest of the record," he said.
I Wanna Make It With You is also the name of Fitzgerald's latest album, with its central theme being about breaking up from a relationship. This year, he gave away a pair of wedding bands and an engagement ring – that were supposed to be used at his own nuptials – to a couple in Halifax.
"We asked people to submit love stories to be considered for the rings. We had 400 stories come in and we read through them all and picked a couple," he said. "They seemed like they'd be a great home for the rings."
