Market will help students dance the night away

Leadership students at Olds High School will hold a market from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Nov. 20 in the school's common area in support of an upcoming dance.

Leadership students at Olds High School will hold a market from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Nov. 20 in the school's common area in support of an upcoming dance.

“The idea just began with collecting formal wear and setting up for students to buy at an inexpensive price. And from that idea we kind of thought if we're going to do this idea, let's make it fun, let's make it as big as we can,” said Geertje Vandenbroek, a leadership student at the school.

Along with selling new or gently used formal wear in anticipation of the dance on Dec. 5 at the Pomeroy Inn and Suites, students will also be selling tickets to the dance and to the upcoming OHS production of Once Upon a Mattress: The Princess and the Pea.

They will also be selling books with coupons redeemable at local businesses with half of the proceeds from the coupon books going to the high school.

Local businesses will join the students at the market with their own booths and there will also be a coffee bar and bake sale.
