An Olds resident is in the running for a 2016 Red Deer and District Community Foundation Women of Excellence award.

Bev Toews, an educational assistant at Olds High School, has been nominated in the Education and Training category.

She has been heavily involved in indigenous education at Olds High School. Toews has also served as chair of the Fair Trade Olds committee among other things.

But it won't be easy to win. She's competing with four other women.

The Women of Excellence Awards gala will be held Wednesday, June 1 in Red Deer.

More information on this nomination – including reaction from Toews -- will be provided in an upcoming edition of the Albertan.
