When all other sources of funding fail, the non-profit society provides assistance to families whose children require medical help.
This year's edition of Spring Fling takes place Friday, April 8, 7 p.m. at the Cow Palace.
Patrons vote for any one of four local causes. The one receiving the most votes will receive 50 per cent of the proceeds. The remaining funds are split between the other three causes.
In addition to Hope4MVCKids, other non-profit or charity groups receiving assistance via Spring Fling are the Olds Gymnastics Club, which hopes to obtain a spring floor to improve safety for club members; a project to expand the Holy Trinity School playground; and funding to cover costs for the Chinook Arch Victims Services compassion dog.
Tickets are $75 each. Fun drinks and fancy hotdogs will be available.
Hope4MVCKids founder Lisa Nicholson is extremely excited to learn that her organization is one of those chosen to receive assistance this year.
"We are so thrilled to get this opportunity. This is going to go a long way to help local families of children in medical need across Mountain View County," she says.
Because Spring Fling is held in Olds, Nicholson says the group plans to set aside a portion of the funds it raises from that evening specifically for families in Olds that need the group's help.
She stresses the remainder of the money they receive will go to help kids in medical need and their families throughout the remainder of Mountain View County.
In addition, Nicholson is well aware of the fact that the economy in Olds and area is hurting. She says that's why Hope4MVCKids has set up a "pay it forward" program.
"Some of our families with children in medical need don't actually get to attend, so if any families can't attend the Spring Fling, we would like them to buy tickets so our families can actually go and attend the event," Nicholson says. "That's what we're really hoping for – pay it forward."
