Two Calgary men face a total of 14 charges in relation to fraud and theft at Olds businesses.

They're due in Didsbury provincial court on June 5 to face those charges.

Olds RCMP arrested Angelo Ross Diaz, 22, and Russell Geronimo, 27, on outstanding warrants after a traffic stop near 50th Street and 50th Avenue.

The arrests occurred after police received a complaint on May 4 from a local flower business regarding what RCMP call ìan unusual point of sale purchase transaction.î

ìA male claimed to have been overcharged and was refunded the money,î an RCMP news release says. ìThe employee checked with neighbouring business and found that a similar occurrence had taken place at that business as well.

ìThe same male, along with a second male, attempted to purchase food at a third business however their card was declined and the two males left the store.

ìPolice were called at this point and began searching for the two males and a white Mitsubishi vehicle they were driving.î

RCMP found the vehicle and arrested the two men during the traffic stop.

ìThrough the investigation conducted during the traffic stop, both the males were arrested and a search of the vehicle revealed numerous pieces of evidence relating to credit fraud, possession of stolen property and possession of drugs,î the release says.

As a result of the arrest, the two men are charged with five counts of fraud and seven counts of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Geronimo also faces one count of possession of a stolen credit card and another of fraud.

Olds RCMP say they're following up with other businesses in the community and other RCMP detachments around the province in relation to this matter.

Also, they're pursuing an investigation in relation to drugs found in the suspects' vehicle.
