OLDS — Emergency crews responded to a cooking incident at a Mountain View Seniors' Housing facility in Olds Wednesday evening.

The call came in at about 6:15 p.m. to the facility, located along 50th Street, east of 54th Avenue.

Twelve firefighters responded in four vehicles. One ambulance unit also responded.

“There was light smoke in a suite which travelled into the hallway on the third floor,” Olds Fire Department Chief Justin Andrew said in an email.

“There were no residents harmed as a result, and the fire department utilized fans to expedite the smoke removal.”

Crews were on-scene for approximately half an hour.

Residents self-evacuated when the alarm was activated and remained outside until the incident was contained.

Andrew said the number of firefighters, ambulance staff and vehicles involved is "a standard response for an incident involving an apartment complex with smoke present."
