A fire completely destroyed a farm shop and addition near Torrington Wednesday (Feb. 17).

The fire, called in at 12:13 a.m., occurred at 32510 Rural Road 274, south of Highway 27 and about a mile east of Highway 791.

A total of 22 firefighters, including 11 from Olds, about six from Linden and two from Torrington fought the fire until about 5 a.m. Eight firefighting vehicles and equipment were involved in the battle.

No firefighters or civilians were hurt.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

“Upon arrival of the fire department, crews found a large farm shop with addition that had heavy smoke escaping from openings in the walls and roof,” an Olds fire department news release says.

Due to how advanced and intense the fire was, firefighters did not enter the building, officials say. They fought it from outside.

As of the time this story was uploaded, the total dollar value of the damage had not been tabulated.
