Emergency Preparedness training grant coming

The provincial government is giving the Town of Olds a $3,500 grant to help cover training costs for its 2016-17 Emergency Management Preparedness Program.

The provincial government is giving the Town of Olds a $3,500 grant to help cover training costs for its 2016-17 Emergency Management Preparedness Program.

Interim chief administrative officer Pat Vincent says the town should receive that grant by the end of this month.

Vincent says the purpose of the grant is to enable the town to conduct an emergency training exercise "which could be either a full exercise of our emergency response plan or a table top exercise. We will make that decision."

He predicts the town will proceed with the exercise in June.

An announcement confirming that the grant is coming to Olds was contained in the Feb. 27 town council agenda package.
