Olds RCMP are investigating a break-in to the Easyhome furniture rental/leasing store in Cornerstone.

The break-in occurred at about 5:30 a.m. Monday when thieves backed a vehicle into the front doors of the store, shattering the windows and twisting the doors.

A senior employee says the thieves stole about $2,000 worth of electronics. Efforts are underway to electronically disable as many of them as possible.

Because it was so early in the morning, no staff were injured, the employee says.

The break-in was reported by an employee of a nearby business.

Police responded, but the thieves had already left.

The Easyhome employee estimates the robbery was completed in about two minutes.

When asked if the staff are a little “rattled” by the incident, the staffer said, “I don't think so. I think we're all pretty strong-willed. We're not shaken up, we're just more mad that someone would do that.”

Five full-time staff work in the store. [email protected]
